The monastery church built in Romanesque style with its two towers characterizes the townscape of Flechtdorf. The church and convent building of the former Benedictine abbey from the 12th century are a unique architectural monument and jewel far beyond the Waldeck region and provide a unique backdrop for many cultural events.
Starting from the unique monastery Flechtdorf in Waldeck-Frankenberg, the F1 leads alternately between meadows, smaller forest areas, mountains and past fish ponds through varied cultural landscape.
From the starting point "Wanderparkplatz Kloster Flechtdorf" the F1 leads down the Klosterstraße, crossing the Aartalstraße into the street Auf den Hüften. Please follow this path for 2.4 km. Now you go through the forest and along the mountain Bemmel to the ponds at the Mühlhäuserbach. Once here, turn again on the western flank of the Bemmel in the direction of Flechtdorf. Passing the Hützenberg, several fish ponds and the Rotbusch you will get back to the Aartalstraße. You cross the village of Flechtdorf and turn left again at the end of the village into Klosterstraße and walk back to the starting point at the "Kloster Flechtdorf" hikers' parking lot.Nice alternative: At the starting point of this round tour you can first follow the Diemelsteig and thus walk past the two monastery ponds. After the 2nd pond you continue to follow the Diemelsteig and turn left 2 times, so that you come back in the direction of the village center. From the Aartalstraße turn into the street auf den Hüften and follow the directions above.
