Directions

The starting and finishing point is the old parish church in the center of Liesen. From here, the path leads along the village road towards Hallenberg until the first junction on the right.Right at the beginning of the Marienweg, you will see "Henneners Heljenhöischen"(1) on the left. The path now continues along Marienweg to the junction of Stoßweg/Schützenstraße.The Hoffmann (2) and Velten (3) crosses are on the right.Stay on Schützenstraße until the second junction on the left and walk along Breidenweg to the churchyard forecourt. There you will see the mission cross (4).Our path now leads uphill for about 250 m to the junction above the last house. Here you can look into the Dudler and see the cross below the oak tree (5) from a distance. As it is on private land, you cannot get any closer.Continue to the right through meadows and fields. The cross "Am Köppelchen" (6) can already be seen on the slight ascent. The place invites you to linger. From here you can see far into the Hessian Ederbergland, to the left you can see the Bollerberg and below you can see far into the Liesetal. To the right, you can see the Heidekopf with its tower. The villages of Hesborn, Bromskirchen and Hallenberg are also clearly visible from here.We walk back along the small cul-de-sac from Köppelchen, continue uphill to the fork in the path and then turn left to the junction with Breidenweg. There we turn right, pass the "Jaunes Ranch" farm and after about 120 m turn right along the narrow path through the meadows. After approx. 300 m you will find the stone cross (7) hidden in the thorn bushes. The effort of the ascent is rewarded with a panoramic view from the southern balcony of the Sauerland. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Kellerwald forest. At the cross in a south-westerly direction, you can see the "Freie Stein" (castle ruins) above the hiking parking lot/log cabin. Continue for approx. 30 m, then turn left to the asphalt path and turn right. After a few meters, turn right again into the forest through the Sellerberg (hiking trail A3). Follow the sign "Kleine Hude/Waldweg". Around the middle of the path, you will be rewarded for your efforts with a view of the Hilmesberg, the Bollerberg and the Liesetal. Especially in the fall, the beautiful mixed forest draws the eye here. At the end of the path, you will come to a refuge (Weg der Deutschen Einheit, x6). On the left above the refuge at the edge of the forest, you can still see the well-preserved defenses (protective ditches). The path continues to the right along the asphalt road towards Liesetal. After approx. 30 m you are in front of the cross "Uff der Wache" (8).The path continues into the valley, after approx. 800 m turn sharp right and you will see the brown cross (9) in front of a stand of spruce trees. The bench and the view of Liesen invite you to linger. Now follow the path to the next junction and continue left downhill past the forest towards Liesetal. We leave the "In der Schlage" natural treading pool on the right and continue along the asphalt path towards Liesetal. Here we find the cross in memory of the old chapel (10) and "Sengen Kapellchen" (11). We keep right and follow the path into the village. It joins the village road. Before the village sign on the right, a steep path leads to the Heiligenhäuschen (12).Now we continue to the junction "Am Mühlenbach".Here, after 5.8 km, the path can be divided and the return route can be taken straight ahead via the village road into the village. If you want to continue along the path in one piece, turn into the road "Am Mühlenbach". At the end of this road on the hill is the location of the cross "Hinter dem Acker" (13), which no longer exists.Turn right here and after a few meters turn right again along the Bahnweg to the junction above the cemetery. From here, a cul-de-sac leads immediately right to the Missision cross (14). From here, we enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Liesen, walk back along the cul-de-sac, continue along the Bahnweg to the junction with the asphalt path "Neuer Weg".Now the path continues slightly uphill to the Nordic walking station and the rest bench there. Opposite is the cross "Am Hütchen" (15).The path continues to the right, past the sports field to the cross on the Kreuzberg (16). Now go back and follow the Way of the Cross (17) into the valley until you reach the cemetery. At the entrance to the cemetery is the blessing house (18).The cemetery cross (19) can be reached via the steps on the top level.Leave the cemetery through the upper gate, take the path on the left down to the road "Am Berg" and continue on the right. The Trift path branches off to the left and leads down to the last station, the wayside shrine "Zum Heiligen Antonius" (20).The "Promised Crosses" themed trail ends after 11.1 km for the entire trail and 5.3 km for the second part of the trail at the old parish church, the starting point of the hike. You should allow approx. 4 hours for the entire trail and 2 hours for each section.
