Düdinghausen church square
Düdinghausen church square
Author: Sabine Risse, Sauerland Tourism
The 4 km long circular trail, which is close to the village and rich in views, can be reached from the signpost tree on the church square (480 m) via a short northern access path. In Riepen, the trail first climbs steeply up the paved hollow path over the Breide (525 m), then turns left to the viewpoint above the "Walme (Allmende)" with a beautiful view of the historic half-timbered village center. Continue in a westerly direction uphill past historic field terraces through Buchenwald to the Klusschlucht gorge (610 m) and then downhill to the Pönnase, another viewpoint. The steep, flowery field path that follows turns sharply left into the Klus shortly before the paved Pönstraße, then leads over the Riepenbachschlucht gorge (550 m) past the treading pool (rest area with arm bend) and reaches the village again via the Grunewaldweg (525 m), lined with hedges and fruit trees.
Sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather.
