This easy and varied day hike through the Apollmicke and Einsiedelei nature reserve (NSG) leads through the largest contiguous beech forest complex in the central and western Sauerland. The NSG has received its protected status in particular due to its beech old-growth forests (see also Natural treasures of Südwestfalen). The circular tour also crosses the "Rahrbacher Poesieweg - mit Poesie zu mir und der Natur" (Rahrbach Poetry Trail - with Poetry to Me and Nature), which also provides informative information about the "primeval forest of tomorrow" via a QR code.

Directions
From Welschen Ennest, the hike initially heads north on hiking trail X5 through the Welschen ennest pastureland (open meadow landscape) and through mixed and Buchenwald forests to Einsiedelei (hiking parking lot). From the Einsiedelei, the circular tour continues southwest on the hiking trail marked K through the beautiful Apollmicke-Einsiedelei nature reserve (FFH area) to the Rahrbruch rest area. Along the Rahrbruch, the circular tour first follows the "white triangle" hiking sign on a black background and then the W sign back to the starting point.

Most hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?
But in an emergency, things have to move quickly! That's why the hiking trail network in the Lennestadt & Kirchhundem region is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.
