The Niedersfelder Hütte is in a unique location in the middle of Germany's largest contiguous high heath area. In the middle of Hochsauerland, hikers and bikers will find beautiful circular trails around the hut and be impressed by the extraordinary flora and fauna. In the Niedersfeld Hochheide, Iceland moss grows alongside reindeer lichen and the lycopodium, which otherwise only grows in Arctic regions, can also be found along the edge of the path.
